Epsom Salts Bath
Fill a bath with hot water (as hot as you can handle)
Dissolve 1 cup of Epsom Salts in the bath water
Soak in it for 20 minutes
Please drink water while you soak in the bath. Do not dehydrate.
Heat
This is for pain caused by tight and stiff muscles
Use a hot water bottle or a microwaveable bean bag
Place the water bottle or bean bag over the area of pain for 10 minutes
Remove for 10 minutes and repeat for another 10 minutes
You can apply heat before doing any stretches as well
Heat will help to ease tension in the muscles and soothe the area of pain
Ice
This is for pain caused by swelling (like a sprained ankle)
Wrap an ice pack in a towel and then place it over the area of swelling
Keep the ice pack tight on the area and try and keep the injured body part elevated (like the leg or arm)
If you have injured your back, try and push your back into the chair while the ice pack is over the injured area
Active Rest
Keep moving from a seated position to a standing position and walk slowly around
Try avoid staying in one position the whole time
Movement helps to get the blood flowing and helps with circulation
Essential Oils
Rubbing peppermint oil, rosemary oil or lavender oil over the area of pain can help ease symptoms
